Karen Desteuben
Owner, Esthetician
Karen has 13 years of experience as an esthetician, nail tech, and Reiki practitioner in the beauty and personal care services field. She began her career at an advanced training institute for licensed professionals, where she provided salon and spa business owners with top-grade professional skin care, machines, supplies, and professional development classes. After receiving her esthetics instructor license in 2014, she could then teach advanced classes and product ingredient knowledge. Karen loved being able to help business owners grow their practice and found it very rewarding.
Working in a few area salons and spas, Karen gained more knowledge and experience behind the treatment table. She began to develop a bustling clientele, and truly enjoyed being in the full-service, fast-paced salon environment.
She went back to teaching in 2020, this time in an under-graduate program. This quickly became a new passion and Karen noticed even more professional growth with that experience.
Karen opened Moonstone in March of 2021 and continues to offer the highest-quality personalized facial experiences.

FAQs
Do you accept walk-in’s?
We are not currently accepting walk-ins, but you may call to inquire about same-day appointments. Karen is generally booked 1-2 weeks ahead. Online booking is the easiest way to see appointments available. Please note the cut-off for online booking is 8 hours before your desired time.

Do you offer referral rewards?
Yes! We love referrals - you receive 20% off your next comparable service after your referral comes in for their appointment. There is no limit to the number of friends you can refer. DOES NOT apply to Package Series deals.
Can you ship products to me?
Yes! We can ship anywhere in the US. Contact Karen to place your order and she will email you an invoice to pay online.
Do you have gift cards?
Yes, we have physical gift cards available for purchase in-store as well as instant online gift certificates here.
Do you offer med-spa services?
No, we only offer services in the esthetician’s scope of licensure. No cosmetic injections, microblading, laser, IPL, electrolysis, etc. For cosmetic injections, we recommend Laurie Miller of New Age Esthetics, conveniently located in Danvers square.
I’m not sure which facial I should book.
The Personalized Spa Facial is always recommended for your first facial appointment. This allows me to get to know your skin before recommending higher-grade facial treatments.
We also offer the option of a one hour consultation. Our consultations consist of a thorough analysis of your health history, current skin care routines, lifestyle, sun exposure and eating habits. Bring your current facial products. A physical analysis of your skin is performed, then we create a personalized treatment & home care plan for you based on your skin type, conditions, availability and budget. $25 of this appointment charge is credited towards your first product purchase at Moonstone.

Retail
Our skin care retail selection is chosen based on product education and first-hand use of the product on customers and ourselves. This allows us the opportunity to give you a personal recommendation on your home care regime and to instruct you how to use the product to get the best results.
